The Estaminé Restaurant provides pickup and drop-off service for yacht guests. This is an operation already organized by them. Please do not attempt to approach the access area, as it is a commercial dock where ferries load and unload passengers. Contact Estaminé directly to arrange the disembarkation and embarkation of your yacht guests.
In the Ria Formosa, the waters are generally very calm. However, you are in the ‘Barra’ area—the entrance and exit point—where the tides dictate the conditions. Currents are strong during both the flood and ebb tides.
With this in mind, please ensure you anchor your yacht securely. Use plenty of chain (extra scope) and stay alert for the many sandbanks and shallow waters in this area. Keep in mind that other yachts will also have a lot of anchor line out; ensure you leave enough swinging room so that everyone can remain safe.
If you are on a “bareboat” and unfamiliar with the area, ask the restaurant to pick you up and drop you off. Don’t risk your safety or the boat’s. If you wish, you can use your dinghy or RIB to approach the island. You will notice that the water depth is very shallow, so be cautious not to let the RIB or dinghy run aground at low tide. Always keep an eye on the tides.
